Smitty’s Got The Funk is a story about Smitty, a young lady searching for her place in the music world. Her band plays at Roger’s Pub every night and after a few months, Smitty starts to get restless. One night, she takes out her frustration on an innocent couple, spilling their drinks and ruining their night. Needless to say, the bartender doesn’t take kindly to Smitty’s outburst and asks her to leave. Smitty makes a big fuss, claiming she will become famous on her own. Outside, Smitty finds a quiet alley way and lights up a joint. Her friend Bo, a hippie hobo, joins and comforts her. He tells her a story of when he was in a rock band and stormed out on his band. The story has a happy ending, but Bo is still homeless. Smitty takes Bo’s advice and heads back to the bar. When she returns, the bar is almost empty and she thinks all is lost, until something sparks her Funk...
SMITTY: Female / 25-30 yrs. / Any Ethnicity. Smitty is a young lady who loves music. Ever since she was young, she has dreamt of becoming a famous musician. She grew up in Toronto, Ontario where there was always great access to live music. After some time, she got an offer to sing the hook for a song by Shad K. Smitty took full advantage of this opportunity, riding the coattails of that fame right through to her own band, Smitty and the Funkeroos. Shortly after the band formed, they landed a gig at a funky bar downtown as the permanent house band. At first, Smitty thought this would be another great opportunity for exposure, but she is becoming ever more impatient with the static situation.

After a few months of playing for other people, Gary realized he wasn’t getting the fulfillment he thought he would get from playing music. That’s when he met Smitty. Smitty’s passion for music and raw performance sparked something in Gary and he suggested they form a band. Shortly after, they started playing as a full time house band and Gary could not be happier.
BO BO: Male / 41-50 yrs. / Any Ethnicity. Bo- Bo was born in the late 1950’s. He was the lead singer and guitarist of a band whose claim to fame was one hit called It’s Got To Be Funk.
